5S

5S

The "5S" are a method to introduce a new system to production, logistics or the office work space. They can also be used to stabilize an existing system.

This system is called Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
Every worker gets the full responsibility for his own work space.
The "5S" are the most important tool for Kaizen (continual improvement)

1. Seiri (Sorting)

Sorting means to remove unnecessary tools, high revolving stocks and personal things from the working space.

2. Seiton (keep order)

In order to keep the order the tools are maintained and kept in their respective place.

3. Seiso (tidiness)

Keep the work space and machines clean!

4. Seiketsu (personal conception of tidiness)

Personal tidiness should become a habit through everyone starting on his own work space.

5. Shitsuke (Discipline)

Standards and rules are to be followed during all times!
